Every year, June is celebrated as the LGBT pride month in order to show support to their community and cause. This year, Facebook has introduced a rainbow emoji to honour the LGBT community and the occasion.

In a press release the company said, “As Pride celebrations begin around the world, Facebook is proud to support our diverse community, including those that have identified themselves on Facebook as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or gender non-conforming”.

Facebook witnesses millions of people as its users across the globe and over 12 million people are part of one of the 76,000 Facebook Groups in support of the LGBTQ community.

This year the social networking platform noticed that more than 1.5 million people plan to participate in one of the more than 7,500 Pride events on Facebook.

In addition, Pride-themed frames to the camera have also been added on Facebook, wishing users “Happy Pride” on their news feeds. If any user happens to react to Facebook’s message, then he might also see a special animation on top of their news feed.
