Madhya Pradesh: Congress sweeps Pachmarhi council election, wins 6 out of 7 seats

BJP’s magic stick didn’t seem to work in Madhya Pradesh’s Pachmarhi as the party managed to secure only one seat in the council election. Congress, on the other hand, won six seats out of total seven seats on Sunday. During the previous elections in Pachmarhi BJP had secured five out of seven seats in the area.

This came as a blessing in disguise for the Congress as the party has defeated BJP after 23 years in Pachmarhi area. 79.27 per cent voting was registered out of total 4495 voters in Pachmarhi area.

In a major move by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader Kamalnath was appointed to be the state party president in Madhya Pradseh. Earlier in 2018 Congress defeated BJP in Kolaras and Mungaoli Vidhan Sabha elections.
