The statistic of the menstruation-related problem in India is not less than a nightmare. As per statistic, 88% of the girls and women use unsafe material. Over 66% of girls don’t know of menstruation before their first period and the same percentage of women manage menstruation without toilets.
This year the theme for Menstrual Hygiene day is “It’s Time for Action” and it clearly indicates the urge to do something of this public health issue. The theme highlights how improved menstrual hygiene and facilities can help empower women and girls around the world. This won’t only improve the lives of the women but also helps women to unlock their economic and educational opportunities.
Menstrual Hygiene Day holds a great significance in terms if improving the condition of most women who have live poor circumstances due to a lack in basic sanitation facilities for young girls and women of menstruation age. A study of 2015 conducted in India found that as many as 42% of the women who participated in the study did not know about the sanitary pads.
