With 2019 now days away, the Astronomy hobbyists have already a lot to cheer for. A celestial event called Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse is set to take place on January 21. The event marks an incredible viewing as the Moon in its Super Blood Wolf form will embrace the sky.
The event will occur as a combination of three celestial happenings. Together, giving a memorable sight across the sky.
A combination of three events makes up Super Blood Wolf Moon. The three events are Blood Moon, Wolf Moon and Super Moon. Let’s us try to understand what these terms represent individually.
Blood Moon
A lunar eclipse is an incident where the Earth comes between moon and Sun. Whereas a lunar eclipse is called a total lunar eclipse in case the whole of the Moon comes into the shadow of the Earth. This rare event is called Blood Moon.
Super Moon
When a Full Moon (lunar eclipse) / New Moon (solar eclipse) coincides with the closest distance between the Earth and the Moon, it results in a slightly larger apparent size of the latter heavenly body. At these times the moon can be perceived up to 30 per cent brighter and 14 per cent bigger.
Wolf Moon
Since the colonial times, the term Wolf Moon has been associated with the first full Moon of the year. There are various other terms for such Moon, the list includes, Snow Moon, Old Moon and Ice Moon.
Unfortunately, the occurrence of the celestial event would take place at (January 21) 10:42 IST, a daytime in India. The viewing would be available for 40-50 minutes and can be seen from South America and parts of Europe.
