NIRF Rankings 2023: Check out parameters on which ranking is based

NIRF Rankings 2023: Today (June 5) at 11 a.m., the Minister of State for Education and External Affairs, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2023. The roster will be posted on the official website, nirfindia.org.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) has been ranked first in the nation’s engineering colleges and in the overall category.

There were only four categories and seven subject domains last year: Overall, Colleges, Universities, and Research Institutions, and Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medical, Architecture, and Dentistry.

This year, however, the NIRF has added a new category: Agriculture and Allied Sectors. In addition, the discipline of architecture has been renamed ‘Architecture and Planning’.

The NIRF Rankings 2023 is calculated on these Parameters for Overall category.

Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)

  • Student Strength including Doctoral Students (SS)
  • Faculty-student ratio with emphasis on permanent faculty (FSR)
  • Combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and Experience (FQE)
  • Financial Resources and their Utilisation (FRU)

Research and Professional Practice (RP)

  • Combined metric for Publications (PU)
  • Combined metric for Quality of Publications (QP)
  • IPR and Patents: Published and Granted (IPR)
  • Footprint of Projects and Professional Practice (FPPP)

Graduation Outcomes (GO)

  • Metric for University Examinations (GUE)
  • Metric for Number of Ph.D. Students Graduated (GPHD)

Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
