A 9-year-old girl was reportedly raped by an unidentified man last week in Vasant Kunj area of National capital. Asper the reports, the minor was abducted, brutally raped and hit with blade all over her face and chest following which, the parents filed an FIR. However, witnessing no action into the case, irked parents and other local residents protested against the police on last Friday, August 24.

According to the local residents, the police had arrested a man following the complaint lodged by victim’s parents, however, when asked to give details of the detained in order to identify and confirm the culprit, police officials had refused to produce any details to the parents.

This has risen a question of suspicion as, the police arrested a man without his identification confirmed from the victim because the minor had been fighting for her life at a medical centre while the detention was held.

Elaborating the details further from the case, a social activist Leher Sethi told that police had been projecting a carefree attitude in the matter. When the protest was held in a bid to ask justice for the minor victim, the demonstrators were beaten up and enforced laathi charge. In fact, the CCTV cameras were allegedly destroyed by the police so that no footage of ill-treatment towards protesters by the police could be obtained.
