Rare Ayurvedic Manuscripts: The Ayurveda Manuscript Science Department of the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) has found 10 rare Ayurvedic manuscripts from Saraswati Library at Fatehpur (Sikar) for research and study. Head of Department Prof. Asit Kumar Panja has informed that 10 rare manuscripts of Ayurveda have been found in Saraswati Library at Fatehpur (Sikar), as per the report.

They consist of ancient texts such as Bhavaprakash, Rasataragini, Gajaswarup Prakash, Palakapya Samhita, Tarkasamgraha, Samudrika Manuscript and Santan Gopal Mantra Vidhi, which are of immense historical and medical significance. It also includes 700 years old medical texts by Acharyas.

Institute Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Sharma thanked the officials and members of Saraswati Library termed this collaboration as a noble effort towards Ayurvedic knowledge and heritage conservation. He stated that the old manuscripts will be helpful for the Institute teachers and doctors for research in diagnosis and treatment of common people and students studying at the Institute will also receive ancient Ayurveda information.

Assistant Professor Anil Kumar Sharma, Dr. Krishna Das, Dr. Nitisha, Dr. Subramanian and Dr. Kirti Singhal discovered the manuscripts of National Institute of Ayurveda. The ancient Ayurveda texts were preserved safely at the National Institute of Ayurveda Deemed University situated at Zorawar Singh Gate in Jaipur.

He informed that the cure of all types of diseases exists in our old Ayurvedic books, but because of ignorance in recent years, we forgot these Ayurvedic treatments. In this condition, the old Ayurvedic treatments exist in the old books which we are conserving. The students learning here are also being educated about them.

Lakhs of individuals visit the institute every year to for their treatment through ancient procedures of Ayurveda. The Ayurveda Institute has also initiated a move on this, under which Ayurveda texts dating back 100 to 700 years are being conserved. Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharma stated that digital technology is being utilized to safeguard these texts. The NIA Institute possesses the sole manuscript unit in the nation which is preserving these books. It contains Ayurveda texts in Sharada script, Devanagari, Tulu, ancient Kannada, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Malayalam etc.

Collection from Various Sources:

The unit is continuously on the lookout to gather manuscripts from different locations, such as private libraries, individual collections, and even from scholars in Rajasthan and other regions of India.

Digitization and Conservation:

The gathered manuscripts are digitized and conserved so that they become easily accessible and can last long.

Study and Research:

The NIA unit also conducts study on the gathered manuscripts with a view to gaining a better understanding of traditional Indian medicine and its history.
