Sony Worldwide Outage: Sony has announced that all PlayStation Plus users will get an extra five days of service for free after a major outage affected the PlayStation Network (PSN) over the weekend. The disruption lasted for around 18 hours between Friday and Saturday, leaving many players unable to sign in, play games online, or visit the PlayStation Store.
On Sunday, Sony confirmed that all network services were fully restored. The company apologized for the issue and thanked players for their patience but did not explain what caused the outage.

“Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience,” the Japanese electronics and entertainment giant said in a post on X on Sunday, without specifying the cause of the outage.
The problem started late on Friday and continued into Saturday, frustrating thousands of gamers worldwide. By Saturday evening, Sony had fixed the issue, and PSN was working again. According to Downdetector.com, which tracks online outages, nearly 8,000 users in the US and over 7,300 in the UK reported problems during the peak of the disruption.
One gamer shared their frustration on social media, saying, “PlayStation is finally working again after being down for an entire day. At least Sony saved our Sunday after ruining our Saturday.”

This is not the first time Sony has faced a major network problem. According to CNBC, in 2014, a cyberattack brought down the PlayStation Network for several days during the holiday season. An even more serious incident happened in 2011 when hackers stole the personal details of 77 million users. That security breach forced Sony to shut down PSN for a whole month and led to an official investigation.
