At the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, Samsung gave a sneak peek of their upcoming multi-folding smartphone. Recently, new leaks have provided more details about this device, including its possible name and features.

According to Gadget 360, reports suggest that Samsung’s new phone could be called the “Galaxy G Fold,” following the naming pattern of its Z Fold series. Well-known tech insider Yeux1122, who shared the information on a South Korean blog called Naver, revealed that the Galaxy G Fold could launch as early as January next year.
According to display analyst Ross Young, the phone will feature a large 9.96-inch screen, which would be one of the biggest foldable displays on the market. This is bigger than the 7.6-inch screen of the current Galaxy Z Fold 6. When folded, the phone will shrink down to a more compact 6.54 inches.
Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which uses a unique folding system, Samsung’s tri-fold phone is expected to have an inward-folding display that folds in from both sides. This will create a different experience from Huawei’s device. While the Galaxy G Fold may be similar in weight to the Huawei Mate XT, it is likely to be a little thicker. Samsung is also said to be using new display technology and protective films to make the phone more durable.

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, Jay Kim, who leads Samsung’s Product and Experiences Office, briefly showed off the tri-fold phone. According to insiders, Samsung is planning to produce only around 300,000 units of this phone, and it will likely come with a high price tag due to its advanced technology.
