Sushant Singh Rajput was born in Purnia, Bihar on January 21, 1986 to Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh. He attended St. Karen’s High School in Patna and then Kulachi Hansraj Model School in New Delhi for his education. Sushant Singh Rajput excelled in his academics and passed 11 engineering entrance exams throughout his life.
In 2002, his mother passed away, and his family relocated from Patna to Delhi. Mitu Singh, one of his sisters, is a state-level cricketer.
In 2003, he received the seventh-best score on the entrance exam for the Delhi College of Engineering and was accepted into the B.E. Mechanical Engineering programme. Sushant was also a National Olympiad Winner in Physics. At Delhi College of Engineering, he was an active member of the drama club. He drops out of college to pursue a vocation in acting.
He moved to Mumbai and started performing in theatre, landing small roles in a number of films. In 2008, he was cast as the second protagonist in the television series “Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil,” gaining significant audience popularity. He was then cast as the protagonist in the 2008 television series “Pavitra Rishta” In 2010, Rajput received his first award for Best Actor at the Indian Television Academy Awards.
