2019 Oscar nominations: Complete list of nominees

“Black Panther” made history, as the movie had seven nominations overall and also became the first superhero movie to be nominated for best picture.

Oscar nominations for the 91st annual Academy Awards were announced Tuesday morning from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif. To reveal the nominees in 24 categories, Academy president John Bailey was joined by “The Big Sick” actor Kumail Nanjiani and “Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross.

Close behind was “A Star Is Born,” Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut starring himself and pop superstar Lady Gaga, with eight nominations. The film, the third remake of the 1937 classic about the pitfalls of fame, landed nods for the actor (Cooper), actress (Gaga), an original song, for the hit “Shallow,” though Cooper was snubbed in the director’s race.

Meanwhile, “Black Panther” which grossed $ 1.3 billion worldwide, made history, as the movie had seven nominations overall and also became the first superhero movie to be nominated for best picture.
