February 22 is the death anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi. Apart from being the wife of Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi also had her own identity. She was a social worker.

At the age of 13, Kasturba was married to Mahatma Gandhi. People called him ‘Ba’ due to his serious and stable nature. He died on 22 February 1944.

Today, on the day of her death anniversary, we are going to give important information related to her life.

But do you know that in South Africa, Kasturba was the one to raise voice against working Indians in inhuman conditions.

Kasturba was the first to keep this in light and while fighting for him, Kasturba also had to go to jail for three months.

If you do not know, let us tell you that Mahatma Gandhi never used to talk to Kasturba Gandhi in a loud voice. She was strong-tempered and loved her discipline very much.

Let me tell you that when Mahatma Gandhi went to jail in the year 1922 while fighting for freedom, Kasturba started the movement to join women and increase their participation in the freedom struggle and was successful in it.

In 1915, when Kasturba returned to India with Mahatma Gandhi, she started helping people in the Sabarmati Ashram. Everyone started calling him ‘Ba’ in the ashram.

Actually ‘Ba’ is called mother. When Kasturba first gave birth to a son in the year 1888, Mahatma Gandhi was not in the country.

He was studying in England. Kasturba single-handedly raised her son Hiralal.
