In a tragic incident, as many as 22 school children are feared dead after a school bus collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district on Thursday morning. The incident injured over 50 kids.

The accident took place early in the morning.  In an initial probe, it has been cleared that the truck was being driven at a high speed when the school’s mini-bus collided with it.

The children were the student of a private school in the area called JS Public School. The children traveling in the bus were on their way to school.

All the kids on the bus were junior school students, aged between seven and ten. The rescue operations are being carried out, said Javeed Ahmed, the Director General of Police (DGP).  A search into the occurrence has also been ordered.

As per the police officials, the death toll may go up further. Notably, the school remained open even after the Etah administration declared three days of holidays due to cold.
