The Uttar Pradesh government late on Wednesday made a major reshuffle in the police, transferring 28 Indian Police Service officials, including several district police chiefs. Akhilesh Kumar has been named as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kanpur while Pushpanjali Devi is the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Unnao.
Anand Kulkarni, who was SSP Allahabad, has been sent as SP, Sitapur and Mrigendra Singh has been named the new SP of Farukkhabad. Mohit Gupta has been posted as the SSP of Kumbh Mela, Ratan Kant Pandey as the SP of Kanpur (rural), Poonam has been shifted out of Amethi and sent as SP PTS, Meerut.
Kuntal Kishore has been named as the new SP of Amethi, the parliamentary constituency of Congress VP Rahul Gandhi. Pradeep Gupta is the new SP of Kaushambi, and Sudhir Kumar Mishra is the new SP of Amedkarnagar.
Additional Director General of Police P.K. Tiwari has been transferred to Telecom as its DG.
