8 New Movies and TV Shows: It’s time for your weekly update on the newest OTT releases, and the next week has the ideal mix of films and television series to satisfy all your binge-watching desires. Sonam Kapoor and Purab Kohli star in the brand-new thriller Blind; Vidyut Jammwal’s IB 71 is set for a digital release; Huma Qureshi leads Tarla, a biopic on celebrated Indian chef Tarla Dalal; and The Lincoln Lawyer returns for a second season.

WHAM! traces George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s astounding ascent from schoolmates to superstars through unseen footage and forthright, unheard interviews. The two adolescents established the eponymous musical duo in 1982 and performed their final show at Wembley Stadium in 1986. This documentary chronicles their meteoric rise to the top of the global music charts during those four years, which yielded hits such as Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Freedom, I’m Your Man, and Last Christmas. Their music sparked a worldwide craze, and they were the first Western musical group to perform in China.

8 New Movies and TV Shows: The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 1 (airing on July 6)

Adapted from a series of novels by Michael Connelly, this American legal drama concentrates on Los Angeles defence attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo). Unconventional in his methods, he operates his law practise from the backseat of a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Navigator as he accepts cases from clients from all over the city. Season 1 was based on the 2008 novel The Brass Verdict, while season 2 will adapt The Fifth Witness from 2011.

Adhura (7 juillet)

When ten-year-old Vedant enrols at Nilgiri Valley, a picturesque boarding school in the hills, odd and eerie occurrences take over the location. Soon after, the class of 2007 arrives for a reunion, triggering a series of terrifying occurrences in which former student Adhiraj Jaisingh is confronted with the mysteries of his past. It doesn’t take long for the paths of Vedant and Adhiraj to cross, and a dark truth begins to emerge, jeopardising the lives of everyone on campus. Rasika Dugal, Ishwak Singh, and Rahul Dev, among others, are featured on the programme.

Seeing-eye (July 7)

This film stars Sonam Kapoor as a visually impaired Scottish woman who becomes involved in a perilous game. One night, she enters a taxi, and her gut tells her that the driver (Purab Kohli) has someone confined in the trunk. She alerts the authorities after making the connection between this incident and reports of a serial abductor of women. Impressed by her sleuthing abilities, the cab driver, who is in fact the perpetrator, repays her by stalking and threatening her until she gives up. Blind is a remake of the 2011 South Korean film of the same name, with Vinay Pathak, Lilette Dubey, and Shubham Saraf also starring.

IB 71 (7 juillet)

This spy thriller is set in 1971 and is based on actual events. It centres on the aftermath of the Indian Intelligence Bureau receiving sensitive information about an impending attack by Pakistan, which is backed by China. IB agent Dev Jammwal (Vidyut Jammwal) orchestrates a hijacking to impose an airspace blockade and lands a plane containing intelligence officers in the neighbouring country with only 10 days to spare. As their identities are compromised, these specialists must thwart Pakistan’s plots while fighting for their lives before the clock runs out.

Tarla (07-July)

Based on the life of celebrated Indian chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal (portrayed by Huma Qureshi), this film is an earnest effort to depict her rise to culinary prominence. After 12 years of marriage, Tarla, who had enormous aspirations prior to her marriage, reflects on her shattered ideals and mundane existence. She eventually achieves unexpected success when she begins instructing cooking classes. Sharib Hashmi plays her spouse, Nalin Dalal, in the film.

8 New Movies and TV Shows: 7 July: The Horror of Dolores Roach

This modern retelling of Sweeney Todd’s story of love, duplicity, and cannibalism is based on the titular Spotify podcast. The plot focuses on Dolores Roach, who eventually sees the outside of a prison cell 16 years after serving an unjustly excessive prison sentence. Dolores reconnects with an old stoner friend, Luis, who allows her to reside and work as a masseuse in the basement of his empanada shop. As soon as the safety of her newfound existence is threatened, Dolores is compelled to commit murder to survive.

The In-Laws (7 July)

Owen Browning (Adam DeVine) is a youthful and upbeat bank manager who is engaged to Parker (Nina Dobrev). Owen is eager to meet Parker’s parents when they arrive for the ceremony, as he learns. Owen deduces that his future in-laws are responsible for the armed robbery of his bank by infamous criminals known as the “Ghost Bandits” during the same week that his bank is plundered at gunpoint by the “Ghost Bandits.” In addition to Pierce Brosnan, Ellen Barkin, Michael Rooker, and Poorna Jagannathan, the film also stars Poorna Jagannathan.
