Newsd Exclusive: Child trafficking case which wasn't

Another case which Jharkhand police busted and presented as of child trafficking, exposed on Saturday, turning out to be fake. 76 minor boys, who were earlier claimed to be rescued from Bokaro railway station before being smuggled, have now been identified as students who were travelling to Telangana for study purpose.

Many reports until yesterday asserted that a group of 76 boys, accompanied by four teachers, were being smuggled from Jamtara district of Jharkhand to Tamil Nadu when CWC (Child Welfare Committee) intervened into the matter to rescued boys. On suspecting the accompanied teachers to be involved in child trafficking, police had detained the four teachers and three ‘Maulvies’ immediately.

However, the entire case took a dramatic turn on Saturday, July 14 when Jamtara Congress MLA Irfan Ansari clarified the police that students were not being trafficked at first place and were travelling to Telangana to study in ‘Madarsa’.

Speaking to Newsd, Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari stated that, “During Congress-led government in the state, students were provided with mid-day meals. Education infrastructure was on better hand. However, the new BJP government in Jharkhand has merged the various separately-run education institutions. Students are not provided with a mid-day meal. Parents were unhappy with poor education system often send their kids outside Jamtara to study.”

“While the group of 76 minor boys was travelling from Bokaro, few people of CWC, who are also the members and supporters of RSS and BJP, reached railway station and held all the students. They further called the police, telling that the accompanying teachers and ‘Maulvies’ were indulged in child-trade,” added Ansari.

On the basis of hearsays, police had detained the teachers which are now being taken to the court for further proceedings. However, the investigation has confirmed that the accused are genuine teachers from Gujrat who have no connection to the child-trade case.

Mayur Shekar Jha, Coordinator, Jharkhand Congress Social Media remarked the incident as conspiracy created by BJP to create communal tension within the state.

“It was a dirty political move to create a notion that present government is concerned about the welfare of infants. Member of CWC and RSS projected themselves heroic by claiming they rescued boys from being smuggled,” said Jha while speaking with Newsd over the phone.

While the students have been safely returned to their parents, the detained four teachers are still being interrogated and taken to court for further proceedings.
