Gram Panchayat elections in Telangana: The Telangana State Election Commission has shared the full plan for the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections, and the entire process will take place in three different phases. Polling will happen on December 11, 14 and 17, and the Model Code of Conduct has already come into force across the whole state from Tuesday evening.
The commission said this early announcement gives enough time for officials to prepare and for voters to know the rules before the big exercise begins.

Polling Timings and Nomination Dates
The SEC said that voting will be done on all three days from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and counting will start at 2 p.m. on the same day. The commission explained that these timings will keep the process smooth and will help officers finish the counting before late evening. There will be a gap of two days between each phase to help districts move teams and materials without stress.
Nominations for Phase 1 will open on November 27. The second phase will accept nominations from November 30, while the third phase will begin receiving nominations on December 3. This staggered system gives candidates enough time to file papers correctly and also lets districts manage the large number of forms coming in across many villages.

State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini said that the elections will cover a very large number of rural posts. She stated, “This election will cover 12,728 Sarpanch seats and 1,12,242 Ward Member seats across the state.” She also explained that the first phase alone will have voting for 4,200 Sarpanch posts and 37,440 Ward Member posts, reported The hindu.

Kumudini added that Telangana has 1.66 crore rural voters who will take part in this election. She reminded everyone that the earlier schedule announced on September 29 could not go ahead because of a court stay order on October 9. Now, with the new dates cleared, the commission has asked all district officials to be ready with polling stations, staff and materials.
The SEC wants the upcoming rural polls to run without confusion, so it has told district teams to start arrangements right away. The notification said that the Model Code of Conduct is now active, meaning all political activity must follow strict rules until the election results are declared. The commission said that this step is needed to keep the election fair and peaceful for everyone.
