Apple M6 Release Schedule: Apple has launched its new M6 chip with the Mac mini. The new Mac mini was announced on August 25, 2026, and comes with M6 and M5 Pro options. The M6 brings better speed and AI performance than the older M4 chip.
More Apple devices are also expected to get the M6 chip soon. Reports suggest that new M6 Macs could arrive later this year, followed by more devices in early 2027.
M6 MacBook Pro and iMac
Apple is expected to launch a new 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro with the M6 chip this fall. October is currently the most likely time for the launch. A new 24-inch iMac is also expected around the same period.

The MacBook Pro is expected to get only the standard M6 chip. Apple isn’t expected to make M6 Pro or M6 Max versions. Higher-end MacBook Pro models are instead expected to move to M7 Pro and M7 Max chips in 2027.
The new iMac may not get many changes apart from the processor. Reports suggest Apple could also offer new colors. A bigger redesign with an OLED screen isn’t expected soon.

The next devices expected to get the M6 chip are the iPad Pro and MacBook Air. Both could be updated in early 2027. Apple last updated the iPad Pro in October 2025 with the M5 chip. A new model may come in spring 2027. It could also get a vapor chamber to keep the device cooler and help it perform better for longer.

The MacBook Air was last updated in March 2026 so the next M6 model could arrive in early 2027. But the desgin will not change much. An OLED display isnt expected until 2028. Apple says the M6’s 2-nanometer design brings “a major leap in performance and power efficiency.”
