Ahmednagar: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik has warned its Party Corporators of strict action after they supported Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Ahmednagar Mayor post. Speaking with a leading news agency Malik has sought an explanation from 18 NCP corporators.
BJP candidate Babasaheb Wakale won the Mayor post after getting a total of 37 votes. Not only the mayor’s seat, but NCP corporators support also ensured that the BJP candidate Malan Dhone got elected for deputy mayor’s post in the Ahmednagar municipal elections.
The Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation Election was held on December 9 and the results were declared on December 11. In the municipal election of Ahmednagar, Shiv Sena got the maximum 24 seats out of total 68 seats. NCP and BJP managed to win 18 and 14 seats respectively.
All three parties have fielded their candidate and were eying for the mayor post. Despite getting the maximum number of seats Shiv Sena failed to seal the deal in favour of his candidate with its partner BJP.
