Counting of votes to elect 68 members of Ahmednagar Mahanagar Palika in Maharashtra will begin at 10 am. The Ahmednagar municipal corporation election saw a triangular contest between the Shiv Sena, BJP and Congress-NCP alliance.

Polling to elect 68 members of Ahmednagar municipal corporation was held on Sunday. Around 67 per cent registered voters exercised their franchise in Ahmednagar Mahanagar Palika Chunav. A total of 339 candidates are in the fray for 68 seats of the civic body. The Congress and NCP contested the election in an alliance and together fielded 64 candidates – 44 of NCP and 20 of Congress.

BJP fielded a maximum of 67 candidates, Shiv Sena declared candidates on 60 seats. In Ahmednagar municipal corporation, 18 of the 68 member-civic body belong to the NCP, 11 Congress, nine BJP, 17 Shiv Sena, four MNS and nine independents.
