#MeToo gaining momentum is a good sign, says Bollywood famous actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. With this, she becomes the latest Bollywood start to talk about sexual harassment after Sonam Kapoor,  Swara Bhaskar, Twinkle Khanna, and Priyanka Chopra. Support from the leading actresses from Bollywood has given courage to many from inside and outside the film industry to open about their horrific experiences of sexual harassment and physical abuse.

This is not the first time when Aishwarya Rai is talking about her abusive relationship in public. She has been vocal about it many times in the past also.

“I have always spoken out. I spoke in the past, I am speaking now, I will continue to speak. Social media has enabled the conversation and any woman who comes from any part of the world today has a voice that will be heard,” said Aishwarya Rai at the launch of L’Oreal Paris X Sabyasachi Calcutta. She also emphasized that there is no wrong or right time to share stories of abuse and unveiling this dirty face of the guilty.

“When it comes to helping women find their voice, find the strength, feel confident about sharing their stories, it’s not about the current time. This has been going on since a lot of time and I am glad it has found a certain momentum today,” said Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

In the midst of the whole #MeToo wave, an old interview of Salman Khan taking with NDTV about hitting her then-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai has surfaced on social media and is doing rounds going viral. In the interview, Salman Khan tells the journalist,

“Yeah, now that woman has said that I have. I mean there was a journalist Prabhu Chawla who asked me this long time ago, so I just banged the table and he got startled, the table really broke. I mean, if I hit somebody, it is obviously a fight, I am going to be angry. I am going to whack and give it my best shot. I don’t think she would have survived it,” said Salman Khan.

However, Salman Khan has always been in denial whenever the issue of SalmanKhan-Aishwarya Rai abusive relationship is talked about. In 2002, after Aishwarya Rai’s account, Salman Khan had said, “I have never beaten her. I get emotional and hurt myself. I have banged my head against the wall but I cannot hurt anyone else.”
