Rahane achieved his highest individual score as KKR captain against Mumbai Indians in IPL history by scoring 67 runs which broke Gambhir’s previous record of 64 runs from 2016.

Pietersen said – “Only one player, I have seen dominate Bumrah like this was, Karun Nair in last year’s IPL”. To which a fellow commentator then added a humorous line after this – “He should have made a documentary for himself, Karun Nair.”
Rahane’s innings took place during the league’s first official match of IPL 2026 which both teams started with their strongest player rosters and high match expectations.
