Recently, a fake WhatsApp message has gone viral across the nation claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving Rs 10,000 to girls between the age of 1-18 years under ‘Sukanya Samridhi Yojana’. The message also claims that in order to avail the benefits of the scheme, applicants must register before August 15.
The truth came out when twitter users pointed out the message and took the issue to the social media by inviting Prime Minister Modi’s attention to it.

SM Hoax Slayer, a fact-checking website further debunked the truths revealing that the website was created on August 6 in Maharashtra. It highlighted the many errors of the website. While the official website of the government of India is the National Portal of India (india.gov.in), the website link in the message is ‘http://sukanya-yojna.m-indian-gov.in/’. Thus, proving that that only intent of the message was to garland maximum traffic and make money from it.
