Tirath Singh Rawat has been named the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand after the resignation of Trivendra Singh Rawat. The decision was taken at a BJP legislature meeting at the party office in Dehradun.

Sources in the BJP said that while the party had been aware of the growing dissent against Rawat’s leadership for a while, the decision to drop him was firmed up after the visit of BJP vice president Raman Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Dushyant Gautam to the state on March 7, where they met MLAs, RSS leaders, and the Chief Minister.

About Tirath Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand next CM

Tirath Singh Rawat was born in village Sinro of Pauri Garhwal district, India on 9th April 1964.  His father was Kalam Singh Rawat, and his mother Gaura Devi.

Rawat has a postgraduate degree in social science from Birla College in Srinagar Garhwal. He was also the president of the student council during his time at HNB Garhwal.

After that, he became the state vice president of Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.

He was party chief of Bharatiya Janata Party Uttarakhand from 9 February 2013 to 31 December 2015 and former member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from Chaubttakhal constituency from 2012 to 2017.

In 1997, he was elected as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and was elected as president of the legislative council of Uttar Pradesh.

He was the first education minister of the newly formed state Uttarakhand.

After this, he was elected as state general secretary of Uttarakhand in 2007 and after that state chief electoral officer and state membership chief.

In 2012, he was elected as legislative assembly member (MLA) and in 2013 he became Uttarakhand BJP Chief.\

As Uttarakhand BJP President he won four mayoral posts in municipal corporations out of six as well as Bharatiya Janata Party winning all five seats in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand was in the second position in terms of voting percent throughout India. He was elected as M.P. from Pauri Lok Sabha Seat on 23 May 2019. He defeated his nearest rival Mr. Manish Khanduri by more than 03.50 lakh votes. He is now the CM of Uttarakhand.

Currently, he was working as BJP national secretary before becoming CM of Uttarakhand.
