Fresh Physical Tests for UP Police Candidates: The Allahabad High Court has given another chance to candidates who were rejected in the Uttar Pradesh Constable Recruitment 2025 and Home Guard Recruitment 2025 because their height or chest measurements were found below the required limits. The court has ordered fresh measurements to check whether mistakes were made during the earlier tests.
Justice Manish Kumar Nigam passed the order while hearing petitions filed by Anuj Kumar and more than 60 other candidates. The court said a person’s height or chest size is unlikely to change much in one or two years, so errors in the earlier measurements can’t be ruled out.

KGMU Medical Board to Recheck Candidates’ Measurements
The court has asked the principal of King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, to form a medical board. Candidates will be examined in four categories, while those in the fifth category won’t get relief.
The court has fixed these dates:
- 31 October 2026: Candidates must report to KGMU, Lucknow, at 10 am.
- 4 November 2026: The medical board must submit its report to the High Court in a sealed envelope. The next hearing will also take place on this day.
The petitions have been divided into five categories:
- First: Candidates whose height met the required standard in earlier examinations but was found lower during this recruitment.
- Second: Candidates whose chest measurement met the required limit earlier but was recorded as lower this time.
- Third: Candidates whose height measurements were different during the first test and the appeal.
- Fourth: Candidates who couldn’t file an appeal because they didn’t know about their right to appeal or had only 24 hours to do so.
- Fifth: Candidates whose height was recorded the same way in both tests but claimed they were eligible based on certificates from private hospitals or doctors. The court rejected their petitions.
The court said the government couldn’t deny that differences were found in some earlier and later measurements. It also referred to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Saurabh Yadav case, where a medical board was formed to measure candidates.
Government’s Arguments and Instructions for Candidates
The state government argued that measurements taken after an appeal should be treated as final. It also said that measurements from previous recruitment examinations couldn’t be used to challenge the present results.
But the High Court ordered a fresh examination by an independent medical board. The board won’t be told about candidates’ earlier height or chest measurements, so the checks can be carried out fairly.
Candidates must carry their Aadhaar card or another identity document, their Physical Standard Test (PST) admit card and a certified copy of the court order. No separate notice will be issued. Candidates who fail to appear won’t get another chance under this order.
A UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board official will also be present to check identities and records. An officer from the Home Guards department must attend for Home Guard candidates. The lawyers have also been asked to inform their clients about the order.
Advocate Aniruddh Pandey and other lawyers appeared for the petitioners. Baleshwar Chaturvedi represented the medical university, while Additional Advocate General M. C. Chaturvedi appeared for the state government.
