Amar Singh appointed as Samajwadi Party’s national general secretary

Amar Singh has been appointed as the national general secretary of the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday. Party president Mulayam Singh in a handwritten letter to Amar Singh said, “I hope in the coming days you will strengthen the party in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.”

In the ongoing storm in Samajwadi Party Amar Singh was blamed for the tussle between chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav by uncle Shivpal Yadav. Akhilesh had also hinted that Amar Singh was cause of tension in the family. It is worth mentioning here that Amar Singh has always been seen as an ‘outsider’ by party big wigs.

The decision to appoint Amar Singh as general secretary was immediately followed by Shivpal Yadav replacing Akhilesh as the state party chief.

Amar Singh, was expelled from the party for six years and returned only recently.
