In the upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Aquaman 2, Amber Heard was hopeful to reprise her character as Mera in the movie. But now according to the rumors, Warner Bros are looking for another female lead in the movie that could potentially sideline Amber Heard’s character in the movie. This update has come months after Warner Bros were practically unaffected by the whole Johnny Depp and Amber Heard saga.
By the looks of it, Warner Bros are now taking proper precautions while handling this serious matter. Aquaman 2 director, James Wan clearly does not want any heat regarding the whole Ambert Heard matter from the angsty fans anymore. Aquaman bagged a whopping USD 1.148 billion at the box office, and James knows if he has to replicate that success again then they have to practice all safeguards and set their disaster management plan in the perfect place.
“Same treatment as Johnny Depp” demands fan for Amber Heard
Fans who want treatment of Amber Heard just like Johnny Depp are firm on their demands. Not to forget but there’s also a petition online which calls for Heard to be fired from the movie, and it’s now reaching 2 million signatures.
This rumor was first spilled by the host of the Beyond The Trailer YouTube channel, Grace Randolph, who also confirmed that Amber Heard’s involvement could be reduced if the times demand.
Grace wrote, “Some holiday tea! #JodieComer has met w/ both #Marvel & #DC for roles (#Aquaman2 & #Flashpoint) off #FreeGuy buzz. #JodieComeran wants new Aquaman female lead to be Asian actress. Also #JJAbrams meeting w/ writers re #Superman, but no word if keeping #HenryCavill just yet.”
She added that Amber Heard still remains a part of the project. “Some of you are asking re Amber Heard – as I told you before, they are bringing on this new female lead to balance things out, and writing the script so that Heard’s role can be cut down if needed. But as of right now she’s still in #Aquaman2,” Randolph wrote.
