Salman Khan is known to never mince his words. He always says things just the way they are. He has been known at times to shoot from the hip. We found an old video of Salman Khan where the actor is justifying why he doesn’t believe in award functions nor does he attend any.

Salman Khan may have attended award functions in the past and also performed, but he has raised a valid point. What sense does it make to invite celebrities for award functions hosted by Magazines and publications. Aamir Khan, had boycotted award shows in the 90s and had also spoken about the credibility of these shows.
But Salman, indeed in the 90s itself has spoken how these award functions serve as a PR gimmick. Too many award functions that have to be televised have maximum stars on board. So it’s all business and sellout in the name of awards having different kinds of awards like Best VFX, Awards for short films only shows wokeness especially when they end up awarding mediocrity for their major awards like this year.
One major woke factor for Indian awards is that we have different awards for critics and popular choice when it should always be only one. And critics awards serve like the consolation prices for those who can never win popular awards.Not to mention horrible editing and terrible scripted gigs that come up in almost every award function. Performative wokeness is also evident that to save face now, they allow all women anchoring in some shows as well. Whereas it was never done earlier.
One more point could be that earlier Filmfare used to take place at Yash Raj Studios. So the bias to YET films was obvious. For example Hrithik Roshan won the Best Actor Award for 2006/07 for Krish in every award function barring Filmfare where he won it for Dhoom2. You can see where that came from. This year again, most of the popular award functions celebrated mediocrity under the garb of entertainment.
