Indians never fail with their creativity and ‘jugaad’ and without a doubt Sonam Wangchuk and his students ace the art.
Recently, the real-life 3 Idiot’s Phunsuk Wangdu alias Sonam Wangchuk and his students from Himalayan Institute of Alternatives crafted out an old Mahindra SUV as a home ceiling, leaving Mahindra’s chief Anand Mahindra speechless.
Applauding the effort, Anand Mahindra took it to Twitter and shared photos of the unique creativity along with the caption, “Well this will compete with our auto-shredding venture but it’s far more creative!”

Multiple studies have proved that vehicles more than 15 years of age lead to serious air pollution. There has been a huge debate on how such vehicles need to be recycled or the waste generated from them need to be disposed off in a way that should ensure that there is minimal harm to the environment.
In such a situation, this innovative idea has generated a lot of interest on Twitter and for obvious reasons, many people are appreciating the effort.
The Himalayan Institute of Alternatives in Ladakh is run by engineer Sonam Wangchuk who gained massive popularity when Amir Khan played his role as Phunsuk Wangdu in the movie 3 Idiots. The institute describes itself as an alternative university to develop solutions to the problems of mountain communities.
