Arizona Child Tax Credit: Governor Hobbs’ 2023 bipartisan budget paved the way for a one-time Arizona FamiliesTax Rebate to bolster families and recognize their invaluable contributions.

It’s more than financial assistance; it’s a gesture of gratitude toward Arizona’s backbone.

Here’s everything you need to know about one-time payments:

For the tax year 2021, you must have filed a full-year resident personal income tax return to qualify for the Arizona Child Tax Credit.

Moreover, you should have claimed at least one dependent tax credit on your 2021 tax return.

As long as you owe at least $1 in Arizona personal income taxes in 2019, 2020, or 2021, regardless of whether you filed individually or jointly, you’re eligible for this rebate.

Arizona Family Tax Rebate Claim

As claimed on your 2021 tax return, the rebate amount is as follows: $250 per dependent under the age of 17, and $100 per dependent over the age of 17.

Those filing separately, head of household, or married filing separately can receive a maximum of $750, while those filing jointly can receive up to $1,500.

No matter what your filing status is, you cannot have more than three dependents on the rebate.

It’s easy to claim your rebate.

Visit familyrebate.aztaxes.gov, the official website that the Arizona Department of Revenue launched.

You can check your eligibility, track your rebate status, file a claim, or update your address here.

Although the rebate is not subject to Arizona income tax, it is subject to federal income tax.

In order to report it on your 2023 federal income tax return, it must be included in your federal adjusted gross income.

For this purpose, ADOR will issue a Form 1099-MISC.

You’ll receive your rebate via direct deposit if you provided direct deposit information when filing your returns in 2021 or 2022.

If your direct deposit information is not on file, a paper check will be mailed to your last known address.

The key to any tax-related process is patience.

Refund processing times for Arizona income tax refunds vary depending on the method of filing (e-file or paper filing) and the date of filing.

ADOR strives to process refunds as quickly as possible, but don’t expect to receive yours by a specific date.
