Nurmahal Dera head and saint of Divya Jyoti Jagaran Samiti, Ashutosh Maharaj of Ludhiana was declared dead by the doctors 5 years ago but the devotees still kept his body in freezer at -22 ° C. On January 28, 2014, doctors declared him dead (Clinical Dead), but even today his body is placed in the freezer.

The fact that remains is that 20 devotees stand in safety for 24 hours in the room where the freezer is kept. After the order of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the panel of three doctors was formed to examine the body of Ashutosh Maharaj every six months. This panel of doctors had recently inspected his body in December 2018.

Jalandhar civil surgeon Dr Rajesh Kumar Bugga said, “There are no signs of decomposition of the body. A bacteria culture test on the body has come out negative.”

When asked specifically if any chemical had been injected or used to preserve the body, he added nothing of this sort had been done.

Ashutosh Maharaj’s real name is Mahesh Jha. He was born in 1946 in Nakhholore village of Darbhanga district in Bihar. It is being told that he had taken initiation from Satpal Maharaj. In 1983, Ashutosh Maharaj started his own separate Ashram. Today his ashram is spread over more than 40 acres of land in Jalandhar and has 100 centres across the country. He founded Divya Jyoti Jagaran Samiti in 1991 and formed its headquarters in Delhi.
