The Assam government on Wednesday, June 26 released an additional draft exclusion list with over one lakh names. The people whose names appear in the additional exclusion list belong to those whose names were included in the draft NRC but subsequently found ineligible.
“As per provisions contained in Clause 5 of the Schedule of The Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003, an Additional Draft Exclusion List consisting of 1,02,462 persons has been published today,” NRC State Coordinator Prateek Hajela said in a statement.
Here are the steps to check your name in the NRC exclusion list:
- Go to the website addnl.nrcdrafts.com
- Type your ARN number in the box and enter captcha.
- Click on ‘Search’ button.
- If your name appears in the list, you are in the exclusion list.
In the draft published on 30 July 2018 over 2.89 crore of the total 3.29 crore applicants were included, while over 40 lakh were left out. Nearly 36 lakh persons out of the 40 lakh who were given a chance to appeal in the ‘claims and objections’ round filed their ‘claims’.
The NRC, a list of Assam residents, will be published on July 31 and is being updated under the Supreme Court’s monitoring.
A person whose name is not part of the NRC can reach out to any such tribunal with a certified copy of the rejection order received from the NRC authorities along with their grounds for appeal.
