The maiden session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly started on a stormy note where the Opposition MLAs raised slogans against the newly elected Yogi Adityanath government in the state and threw paper balls at the podium.
When UP governor Mr. Ram Naik went to the podium for his customary address, paper balls were hurled at him by the Opposition MLAs.
“Sara Uttar Pradesh dekh raha hai aap ko (the entire Uttar Pradesh is watching you),” he told the shouting members, who kept throwing papers at the podium and creating ruckus.
In a video released by ANI, the Opposition members are seen carrying placards and shouting during the assembly proceedings.
All this happened while CM Adityanath was present in the House.
This is for the first time that assembly proceedings are broadcast live on Doordarshan.
Despite Speaker Hridaya Narain Dixit’s request to smoothen the proceedings and maintain peace in the house, the Opposition members continued to shout.
Both the Opposition parties- SP and BSP have questioned the Yogi Adityanath government on the law and order front.
