Asus ROG Ally Gaming: Asus has made the ROG Ally Handheld console available for purchase in multiple international markets, including Japan, China, and Italy. The band has now hinted that the portable entertainment device will arrive in India in the near future.

The official Asus ROG India Twitter account has posted a teaser for the ROG Ally, suggesting its imminent arrival in India. This is excellent news for Indian gamers, as the ROG Ally will be among the first handheld gaming consoles of the current generation to launch in the country. Yes, the Nintendo Switch and the Valve Steam Deck can be purchased in India; however, the respective brands have not officially launched them in the country, resulting in the imported consoles being sold at a premium price and without official customer support.

The increase in mobile gaming in India indicates a strong demand for transportable gaming devices in the country. However, the cost of these consoles will have a substantial effect on their prevalence. Recent disclosures have revealed the pricing information for the ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, which is estimated to cost 71,999 INR (approximately $875), while the variant with the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor is expected to cost 79,999 INR (approximately $975). These leaked prices appear significantly higher than the $599 and $699 pricing in the United States, which may seem excessive to Indian consumers.

The Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming console features a 7-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display’s 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak luminance, and Corning Gorilla Glass Vicus protection provide for a fluid visual experience.

The console is propelled by the Zen 4 architecture-based AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. There is also a variant with a Ryzen Z1 processor that features marginally inferior specifications. With AMD Radeon Navi3 Graphics, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, the ROG Ally provides excellent gaming and multitasking performance.

The console, which runs on Windows 11, provides access to a variety of games from platforms such as Steam, EA apps, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass. It also includes a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The dual speaker configuration with Asus’ Smart Amplifier Technology improves the audio quality of the gaming experience.

Regarding connectivity, the console includes a 3.5mm headphone input, a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C port combo for the ROG XG Mobile Interface, and a UHS-I microSD card reader. Notably, the battery life of the ROG Ally’s 40WHr battery with 65W charging support may not be comparable to that of its competitors, such as the Steam Deck.
