A new twist in the political drama is unfolding in Rajasthan as the purported audio recording allegedly featuring Sachin Pilot camp MLAs talking about accepting money from the BJP to topple the government is doing rounds on social media.

One of the audio tape allegedly features a conversation between Pilot camp MLAs Bhanwar Lal Sharma, an intermediary and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat of the BJP, while another purportedly features another Pilot camp MLA, Vishvendra Singh, speaking to a different intermediary.

After an audiotape between two political leaders went viral on Thursday, the Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group wing arrested a person named Sanjay Jain. As per sources, a Congress MLA was contacted with the help of Jain for the purpose of horse-trading.

The authenticity of the audio tapes are not verified yet.

Earlier, Nitin Agarwal, the Congress party spokesperson in Rajasthan said that “We had call recordings of MLAs indicating the involvement of the BJP.”

These recordings, a Congress MLA said, are now part of a police investigation, which was triggered by suspicions around the time of the Rajya Sabha elections that some MLAs were open to toppling the state government in exchange for money.

On Wednesday, Gehlot openly accused Pilot of indulging into horse-trading and conspiring to topple his government in the state. Reports suggest that the party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala held a closed-door meeting with Gehlot and asked him to refrain from making sharp comments against Pilot.

“We want to tell Pilot that if you don’t want to go to the BJP then don’t accept Haryana’s hospitality. If you don’t want to go to the BJP, stop talking to any BJP leader or member,” Surjewala had earlier said.
