Indian Political corridors witness interesting twists and turns as Badminton champion Saina Nehwal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, January 29. If the reports are to be believed, party may field her as one of the star campaigners in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
As quoted in the reports, Saina wearing the BJP scarf said, “I have won medals for the country. I am a very hardworking and I love hardworking persons. I can see Prime Minister Narendra Modi does so much for the country, I want to do something for the country with him.”
“I draw a lot of inspiration from Narendra sir,” the shuttler added.
Nehwal’s sister Chandranshu also joined BJP. Duo joined the party in the presence of Party’s National General Secretary Arun Singh.
29-year-old Nehwal is a major acquisition for the party in the middle of the Delhi poll campaign; she is one of the most popular sports persons in India with a huge fan following and brand value. She is preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
