BBC appoints Yogita Limaye as the new India correspondent

BBC News on Friday appointed Yogita Limaye as its India correspondent. She will report across BBC World News, BBC World Service and BBC News online and will be covering national politics and social developments from Mumbai. Yogita Limaye joined the BBC in May 2012 as Mumbai Business Correspondent.

Earlier, Yogita has reported on several vital news events including the 2008 Mumbai attacks, cotton farmer suicides and the Anna Hazare movement. She has extensively covered the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the 2015 Sri Lankan elections.

Speaking on the lines of recent development Yogita Limaye said“It’s a great time to be a journalist in India, a country that’s going through rapid economic and social transformation. I’m really looking forward to using my knowledge of the country and the region to produce powerful content for the BBC’s multimedia platforms.”
