Delhi: BJP MP Udit Raj hits out at party leadership, alleges lack of communication

BJP MP Udit Raj on Sunday stoked a controversy on Sunday saying that a beef diet helped Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt win nine gold medals in the Olympics.

However, after facing flak over his comments, the Dalit activist and Lok Sabha member clarified on Monday that he was referring to Bolt’s “dedication”.

Raj had said on his Twitter post on Sunday, “Usain bolt of Jamaica was poor and trainer advised him to eat beef both the times and he scored 9 gold medals in Olympic.”

Raj tried to play down any controversy saying that he merely repeated what Bolt’s trainer had said and all he meant was the athletes can find a way to excel despite adversities and they should not blame circumstances for their failures.

“I cited circumstances of Jamaica that despite poor infrastructure & poverty, Bolt won 9 gold so our players should find ways like that to win”, he clarified on Twitter.

Raj represents Delhi North-West constituency and he is the chairperson of the All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations.
