In early hours on Saturday, a five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and dumped in a semi-conscious state on a road in Bengaluru. According to te police, the girl was found by beat police patrolling yesterday night. The incident took place within K G Halli police station limits.
The victim suffered several injuries and was rushed to the state-run Bowring hospital, said an official. Doctors suspect that the victim has been sexually assaulted and is in a state of trauma. A sex abuse cell would conduct further tests in this regards and come to a conclusion.
“The girl was admitted at about 3:45 am at our hospital. There are genital injuries like vaginal tear, her ring finger had been amputated… there is also a scalp injury and she is bleeding”, said a doctor.
The doctor further said that the victim’s overall health parameters are stable and the child is out of danger. She is currently undergoing treatment.
Stating that all her other health parameters are stable, doctors said the child is out of danger and is undergoing treatment at the paediatric intensive care unit. Additional Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru) Hemanth Nimbalkar said a case has been registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and investigations are on.
Based on the statement of the mother, a case was registered said Nimbalkar. The police suspect someone known to the victim to has committed the crime.
“We can get to know about the incident and who took her.. all those things, once the girl is fully conscious,” he added.
