The ECI said that only 0.22% of the total ballot units deployed developed a glitch, 0.25% control units were reported as malfunctioning and only 1.25% VVPATS had to be replaced.
The malfunctions impacted voting time in only one Assembly constitutency: 241 Jamui, where polling had been extended till 7 pm to make up for the lost time.
Polling is underway in 71 assembly constituencies of Bihar in the first phase of three-phase elections amid tight security and COVID-19 guidelines in place. The fate of over a thousand candidates across these assembly segments will be decided Wednesday by more than two crore voters. Of the nearly 2.15 crore electors eligible to exercise the franchise, 1.12 crore are male, 1.01 crore female and 599 are from the third gender.
A day after violence in Munger, the Mahagathbandhan slammed the state government over the law and order situation in Bihar. “This double-engine govt definitely had a role in it. Who gave permission to become General Dyer? The maximum 49.84 percent turnout has been recorded in Lakhisarai, followed by Buxar (48.91 percent), Kaimur (49.26 percent), Banka (47.44 percent), Patna (45.77 percent), and Bhagalpur (45.51 percent) among others.
Only Sandesh and Barbigha assembly seats have seen less than 40 percent voting till 3 PM out of the total 71 constituencies in the first phase.

Urging people to vote for the Mahagathbandhan, Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi, "This time, vote for justice, employment, farmers and labourers and for Mahagathbandhan."
Bihar has recorded 6.74 per cent voting till 9 am. Munger where violence broke out on Monday night between the administration and Durga devotees among the lowest at just over 4 per cent.
