Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav held a candle march today on Saturday evening at Jantar-Mantar in Delhi to protest against Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case. There he was accompanied by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, CPI leader D Raja, CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, former JDU leader Sharad Yadav and several other opposition party leaders. In the protest, Tejashwi Yadav demanded a death sentence for the prime accused of the case, Brijesh Thakur. He asked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to cooperate and make sure that Thakur gets a punishment “hanged till death”.

“We want Brajesh Thakur to be hanged till death. If you see the number of crimes in Bihar has increased in the past one year. Cases of gangrape are being reported back to back from various districts of the state,” said Tejashwi Yadav to ANI on Muzaffarpur shelter home case.

“We have gathered here for the women of our country and we stand with them. If Nitish ji is really feeling ashamed then he should take immediate action,” said Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Further criticising Bihar CM Nitish Kumar over the law and order situation in the state, Tejashwi Yadav said, “RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and said that the state is currently witnessing ‘Rakshas Raj’ as daily Sita is being kidnapped and Duryodhana is doing chirharan”.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who was present at the candle march said that this is the same Jantar Mantar from where the Nirbhaya protest rocked the foundation of the then UPA government, this time its about 40 Nirbhyas, no one will be saved. He demanded “death sentence for the accused and political figures defending him.”
