Darbhanga: Amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Janta Dal-United (JDU) has received a huge jolt as its Hayaghat Member of Legislation Assembly (MLA), Amarnath Gami has offered to resign from the assembly.
According to the reports, JDU MLA Gami is likely to declare his resignation on Tuesday evening from the party membership as well.
Amarnath Gami had earlier said with regards to the situation that he never compromises with his self-respect. The MLA also wrote a letter to the Bihar chief minister & party president Nitish Kumar after being ignored. In recent times, Gami has been upset with the party for neglecting him.
Gami has won assembly elections from here two times in a row. In 2015 on JD(U) ticket, Gami registered victory with a margin of over 65 thousand votes against Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Ramesh Choudhary. In the 2014 elections, fighting on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, Gami won against LJP candidate Shahnawaz Ahmad Kaifee.
Hayaghat is an assembly constituency in Darbhanga district and falls in the Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency.
