Bihar Man and Russian Woman’s Viral Love Story: A viral love story suggesting that a woman from Russia made her way to Bihar for marrying a man there turned out to be a hoax. Various social media posts told the story of love between Rahul Yadav from Bhagalpur and a Russian woman named Julie who was said to be planning her marriage with him in November 2026.
An investigation conducted by NDTV has revealed that videos of this viral love story depicted other individuals and the shooting took place in a different district. The woman is known as Andrea Connolly who is linked to a British NGO, and the man is Namit Bhay, who is a social media content creator from Purnia, Bihar.
How Did the Love Story of the Bihar Man and the Russian Woman Go Viral?
This viral story started spreading across social media platforms in October 13 when videos appeared online featuring a foreign lady visiting a village and meeting up with a man.
Some posts have alleged that Rahul Yadav traveled to Russia for work and fell in love with Julie there. It was suggested that the Russian lady came to Bihar for marrying him and got ready for the marriage ceremony.
The incident gained popularity due to the cross-border love story where two individuals were supposed to be in love despite the difference in nationality and wealth. Nevertheless, the claims about their identities, relation, and marriage could not be substantiated by the results of the investigation.

What Actually Happened?
In the case of NDTV fact-checking, it became clear that the video was shot in Purnia district rather than Bhagalpur. In addition, it turned out that the man in the video is Namit Bhay, the local content creator for social media.
As for the woman in the video, she was identified as Andrea Connolly, the individual who was visiting India within the team from a British NGO called Shivia. The team arrived in the area in order to find out more information about the initiatives related to community development and how rural women can earn money independently.
This visit to India took place on October 7 and 8. During the visit, the team met with local people and visited the houses in the village. Local women welcomed the visitors with roses, and the video from the event was uploaded online.
Abhishek Kumar Singh, coordinator of Saathi, said, “A six-member team of women visited Purnia on October 7 and 8 to understand the organisations’ grassroots work. Andrea was among the visitors. During the visit, local women welcomed the team with a bouquet of roses, and Andrea visited some of their homes.”
Namit Bhay Denies the Relationship Claims
As rumors swirled, Namit made it clear through another video that he was not romantically involved with the foreign visitor. He made it clear that the girl visited his village as his guest and that there was no truth to the rumors of their marriage on social media.
Singh said, “The women were guests of the organisation and expressed concern over the spread of the misleading video.”
However, there is no concrete evidence available that the lady had visited Namit from Russia to get married to him, nor any wedding was to take place in November 2026.
