Bihar: MLA defies lockdown to celebrate wife's birthday, travels from Jamui to Patna without pass

Congress MLA Sudhir Kumar alias Banti Chaudhary from Sikandra Assembly in Jamui district had come out in the past to help people struggling with lockdown. People have lauded his work but then he did something that people started questioning.

The MLA moved from Jamui to Patna during lockdown. For those unaware, there is coronavirus lockdown going on across the country, which requires an inter-district pass from one district to another. The reason for the administration to go to that district is asked to issue the pass and the pass is issued only after they find the reason valid.

Till last four days, the MLA, who was roaming in the Sikandra assembly, was in the eyes of the media distributing ration among the people.

His pictures were constantly being printed, reports were coming, then suddenly there was a news that MLA Banti Chaudhary was celebrating his wife’s birthday in Patna and distributing rations among the people there. When the picture came out, the question also came up that how MLA completed his journey from Jamui to Patna.

When it was examined, it was clearly stated by the district administration that we did not issue the pass to the MLA.

He is residing in Patna himself. The second question is, when the MLA was travelling from Jamui to Patna, why was he not stopped by the policemen stationed on the border of these districts and if stopped, how did the MLA reach Patna?

Also, a few days ago, the MLA from Hisua in Bihar’s Nawada had gone to Kota to bring his daughter, and there was a lot of uproar. After that, another MP came to the fore, and he did not see his daughter’s anguish.

However, when asked about this, MLA Shri Chaudhary said that he refused to say anything in addition to the fact that the Assembly has opened since April 20.
