The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 1,799 Sub-Inspector vacancies in the Bihar Police force. The preliminary written examination took place in January 2026 when lakhs of candidates took part in the state-wide competitive test.
According to reports, tens of thousands of candidates have been shortlisted for the next stage which is the Mains examination. A total of 10,36,702 candidates had registered for the preliminary examination. Out of them, 7,26,231 candidates appeared for the exam conducted in two shifts on January 18 and January 21, 2026. Only candidates whose roll numbers appear in the merit list will be eligible to take part in the upcoming phase of the recruitment process.
