Bihar Polls 2020: Denied assembly ticket, BJP MLA quits grain, pledges to eat fruit for lifetime

Political parties in Bihar have started announcing their candidates for the upcoming assembly elections that are all set to content in three phases and start from October 28.

Amidst the announcement of tickets, many leaders have not been given their tickets by political parties this time. In Bihar, leaders of different parties are expressing their displeasure over the absence of tickets in the assembly elections. In this episode, there is a BJP MLA who is opposing the unique way of not getting tickets.

Shatrughan Tiwari alias Chokar Baba, the current BJP MLA from Amnaur Constituency  in Saran district, has not been given the ticket by BJP in this election. To protest this decision of the party, Tiwari has decided to quit grain for a lifetime. According to reports, he has said that he will now continue to eat only fruit for life.

Tiwari said that BJP gave a ticket to the one whom he had defeated. The BJP leader said that he was a sitting MLA and was gearing up for the election. The people of the area were also prepping for the elections. Thousands of people got food from the kitchen they drove, which led to their popularity in the area.

In 2010, Shatrughan Tiwari had defeated the JD(U) candidate Krishna Kumar Mantu by a margin of over 10,000 votes. In the 2015 elections, Tiwari again defeated Krishna Kumar Mantu.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Friday said that his party could contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections on around 50 seats. “Shiv Sena can contest in around 50 seats in the upcoming Bihar Elections 2020. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and state minister Aaditya Thackeray will address virtual rallies”, news agency ANI quoted Raut as saying.

The term of the Bihar Assembly comes to an end on November 29. According to the poll panel, there are 7.29 crore voters in the state, including 3.85 crore male and 3.4 crore female voters and 1.6 lakh service voters.
