Bima Sugam launch in India: India has moved one step closer to creating a single digital place for all insurance needs. On September 17, the Bima Sugam India Federation (BSIF) launched the official website of Bima Sugam in Hyderabad. This platform will act as a digital marketplace where people can access life, health and general insurance in one place. Ajay Seth, Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), unveiled the website.

The new website is only the beginning, and more features will be added step by step. The plan is to roll it out in phases so that everything stays safe, secure and works smoothly.
Once the insurers and other partners finish their system connections, real transactions will start happening on the platform in the coming months. The idea behind this project is to make insurance simple and available to everyone in the country, in line with the government’s dream of “Insurance for All by 2047” and the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
According to Money controle, Ajay Seth explained the importance of the launch in his words, “This initiative will empower policyholders, deepen insurance penetration, and ensure transparency and fairness across the value chain. The launch of the website is an important milestone, and I am confident that with collective industry commitment, the vision of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’—as part of the Prime Minister’s mission of Viksit Bharat 2047—will become a reality.”

What the Website Means for Insurance
Prasun Sikdar, who is the MD and CEO of BSIF, said the website will be like a trusted entry point for both the public and the insurance industry. He explained, “It provides clarity on our vision, governance, and progress, while bringing customers, insurers, and intermediaries together on a common platform. This is the first milestone in a journey that will transform insurance access and transparency for every Indian household.”
The industry also sees this launch as a powerful example of teamwork. Tapan Singhel, MD and CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and Chairman of the General Insurance Council, said, “It is proof of what the industry can achieve when we come together, not as competitors, but as collaborators. With the regulator’s vision and the united commitment of all insurers, Bima Sugam will transform India’s insurance landscape and set a global benchmark in digital public infrastructure.”
