Born on February 3, 1938, in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, the extremely talented actress, dancer Waheeda Rehman started her career with a Telugu film. Her first hit was Jayasimha in 1955 followed by Rojulu Marayi. The versatile actress worked in several critically acclaimed Hindi, Bengali and Tamil films.
Waheeda Rehman’s most appreciated films include CID, Guide, Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Reshma Aur Shera. She has also worked with Satyajit Ray in a Bengali film ‘Abhijan’ and won National Award for her performance in ‘Reshma Aur Shera.’
The ace actress won several Filmfare and other awards, the Padma Shri and then a Padma Bhushan in 2011. In May 2015, she received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award from Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley.
