After being assaulted by Shiv Sena workers at a rally, BJP MP Kirit Somaiya on Thursday alleged that Shiv Sena workers tried to kill him and wrote to Mumbai Police Commissioner asking him to unravel the plot.
Police have so far arrested 13 people in connection with the assault, wherein a few BJP workers were injured. The attack took place during a ‘Ravana Dahan’ (burning of Ravana effigy) in Mulund, which he had organised. The Ravana Dahan was done depicting corruption in Shiv Sena ruled BMC.
Mumbai BJP President Aashish Shelar visited Somaiya and the other injured on Wednesday. “Our agitation was against corruption, why was Shiv Sena angered in the first place? Our fight against corruption in BMC will continue. We will give a tit for tat… They have started this game, but we will finish it,” Shelar said.
Shiv Sena too reacted to Shelar’s attack with party leader Neelam Gorhe saying, “Aashish Shelar himself is facing an inquiry by the Lokayukta. Apart from Shelar, there are inquiries against BJP like Eknath Khadse and Pankaja Munde. BJP should also put up a poster of these scams with the Raavaan.”
