Khan reached Jodhpur court to record his statement in a 19-year-old case concerning the poaching of two blackbucks in Rajasthan on Friday morning. The court proceedings are expected started in the late morning.

Notably, Salman Khan is an accused in the poaching case together with fellow actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre and Tabu. Earlier, the court had asked them to appear on January 25. However, the actors had sought exemption considering the security situation ahead of Republic Day.

The court wants the accused to record their statements in the case. Actor Saif Ali Khan also reached Jodhpur court to record his statement in the blackbuck case. Salman was charged with killing two blackbucks (an endangered species) in Jodhpur in the case while shooting the movie ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in 1998. He was allegedly encouraged by others.

Salman Khan was acquitted in an Arms Act case last week wherein he was accused of having and operating an unlicensed weapon.  The Rajasthan High Court had also freed the actor in two cases linked to the hunting of a chinkara deer.

Khan was also convicted by a lower court in a hit-and-run case. He was found guilty of drunken driving and killing a homeless man with his SUV in Sept 2002. However, his jail sentence was suspended by Bombay High Court.
